New Student Orientation for the 2024-25 school year is scheduled for August 21–25 . New Student Orientation is required for all new students.
Designed to provide a unique, challenging, and fun transition to life at Davidson, students can select from an assortment of pre-orientation programs that run June–August. These allow students to immerse themselves in the Davidson community prior to the start of the academic year.
The Residence Life Office (RLO) takes extraordinary care in pairing first-year roommates. You will receive an email with a link to a housing preference form. Roommate and room assignments will be emailed during the summer.

Each student is issued a CatCard, a photo-ID card that provides access to buildings on campus, meals, and access to many Davidson College services. Photos should meet the required specifications and be submitted electronically or by physical mail.
Dining Services focuses on nutrition, variety, freshness, and sustainability. Meal plans offer convenient pre-paid dining at a variety of campus locations. First-year students are required to participate in the All Access Unlimited Plan.
Davidson College is devoted to the life of the mind and the development of the whole person. One of the best ways to begin your journey here is to read a common book during the summer, discuss it during Orientation, and apply what you learn to your life at Davidson and beyond.
This year's Common Read Book is The Courage of Compassion by Robin Steinberg. Books will be mailed to all incoming students in mid-June.
In early June, spend some time exploring the liberal arts curriculum at Davidson College. Check out the various subjects available and specific courses being offered in the fall. If you are not starting a new language, language placement tests must be completed.
Once you have specific course preferences in mind, you will complete initial course registration, called WebTree. Summer advisers are available May 31 – July 1 to help new students with course selection advice.
New students will meet their holistic adviser during Orientation, after which course schedule adjustments can be made.
In the spring, you will receive an email or text from Technology & Innovation (T&I) to claim your Davidson account & email—where you'll receive important communications. Before getting to campus, get a head start on setting up your technology by using T&I's guide so you can get access to Moodle, campus printing, and more.
Banner Self-Service is the password-protected student portal. As a first step, sign in and complete the New Student Information Form to ensure your contact details are up to date. Your bill for tuition and fees will be posted in July for the fall semester.
Students may grant parent and other key people Proxy access to your 1098T tax form and Financial Aid award. Your Nelnet Authorized Payer can view your student account details, make payments and set up a payment plan. Learn how to authorize your Proxy and Authorized Payers of choice.
